Static QR code generator
The content is stored inside the code itself. Nothing is saved on our server, so the code works forever, even offline.
What a static QR code is
A static QR code holds its content in the black and white squares. A phone reads the text, number or address straight from the pattern, with no server in between. That is why a static code can never expire: there is nothing to switch off.
The trade-off is that a static code can never change. If you print a web address and the page moves, you need a new code. For anything that might change, use a dynamic QR code instead, which is just as free.
How to make one
Type or paste your content, pick colors if you like, and press Preview. When it looks right, download it as SVG for print, PNG for screens or EPS for design software. Keep a strong contrast between the code and its background: dark squares on a light background scan best.
Error correction
Error correction lets a phone read a code that is scratched, dirty or partly covered by a logo. Medium suits most uses. Choose High if you add a logo or the code will be printed outdoors. Higher levels make the code denser, so print it a little larger.
Good uses for static codes
Plain text, a phone number, a fixed web address that will never move, or a code on something you will reprint anyway. For WiFi and contact cards, use the dedicated WiFi and vCard generators, which fill in the right format for you.
Every code made here is free and never expires. Read the pledge.
